Away We Go

I’m a big fan of John Krasinski, and I finally got to see Away We Go. I think it’s very beautifully simple, visually and narratively. Sometimes that’s all one really needs.

The story is about Burt and Verona, who travel around the country, trying to find the perfect place to raise their unborn child.

The story really makes me look forward to the day that I can start my own family. Whenever I say things like that, some uber-femenist jumps down my throat saying that I am a terrible person for wanting that.

I don’t get it. I am also looking forward to my career, to becoming a better artist, to being able to afford my own house, to be able to travel, why shouldn’t I also be allowed to say that I am looking forward to another goal? Is it because I’m just in my 20s? Should that be the furthest from my mind? That’s stupid.

I can’t wait until I have done so well in my life that I absolutely and utterly confident enough in my mental and financial stability to start my own family, under my own roof. Wherever that may be.
